DailySpend Privacy Policy
Effective September 4, 2026
DailySpend is a free personal spending tracker. It has no advertising, subscriptions, in-app purchases, third-party analytics, or tracking.
Information DailySpend handles
DailySpend stores the expenses, categories, notes, dates, budgets, and recurring-entry settings that you enter. Split-bill calculations stay on your device and are not saved unless you choose to record a share as an expense. This information is used only to provide the app's tracking, budget, insight, widget, backup, and split-bill features.
Where your data is stored
Your data is stored in DailySpend's protected app storage on your device. When iCloud is available and enabled for the app, it can sync through your private iCloud database. DailySpend does not provide the developer with access to your private expense history.
You can optionally enable App Lock to require device authentication when reopening DailySpend. The app also hides financial records in the app switcher.
Receipt scanning
If you choose to scan a receipt, DailySpend uses the device camera and Apple's on-device text-recognition technology to suggest a total. Receipt images are not uploaded to the developer and are not retained by DailySpend after recognition.
Widgets and notifications
DailySpend widgets use a small shared storage area so the app can show spending and budget information. Widget content may be visible wherever you choose to place a widget. Enabling App Lock replaces shared balances with a hidden-amounts state. iOS controls widget refresh timing and may temporarily retain a previously rendered widget; remove the widget for immediate privacy. Optional budget reminders are scheduled locally on your device.
Backups
Current DailySpend backup exports are encrypted with a passphrase you choose. DailySpend does not store that passphrase and cannot recover an encrypted backup if you lose it. You control where an exported backup is saved or shared. Earlier JSON backups created by previous versions may be unencrypted and should be kept private.
Your choices and deletion
You can delete expenses and category budgets in DailySpend at any time. If you use iCloud, those deletions sync when iCloud is available. Deleting DailySpend removes its local data from that device. DailySpend does not operate user accounts or hold a server-side copy of your personal expense history.
Camera and notification access are optional and can be changed at any time in the iOS Settings app. App Lock can be turned on or off in DailySpend’s Privacy settings.
Sharing
DailySpend does not sell, rent, or share your personal information for advertising or marketing. Information is only shared when you deliberately use iCloud or an operating-system sharing feature such as exporting a backup or CSV file.
Children
DailySpend is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the effective date on this page will be updated. Material changes will be described in the app or in its release notes.
